International Trust Strengthens, Two French Students Participate in Academic and Internship Programs at Unpatti

Viralterkini.id, Maluku – Pattimura University (Unpatti) has once again made an important achievement on the global education map. In the 2025–2026 academic year, two students from France will officially study at the proud Maluku campus.

They are Alix Teresa Micheline Francoise Fernandez and Adrien Victor Jacky Vitton Mea, who joined the Instrumentation and Automation Engineering Study Program, Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology.

The Chancellor of Pattimura University, Fredy Leiwakabessy, called the presence of foreign students a strategic momentum as well as a symbol of international trust in Unpatti’s academic quality.

“The presence of foreign students is a source of pride for us and is proof that Unpatti is trusted internationally. This is recognition of the quality of education, research and community service that we continue to develop,” said Fredy in his statement, Wednesday (21/1).

Fredy explained that the two students would take part in academic activities and internship programs with a flexible duration, ranging from around five months to more than five years, in accordance with the educational scheme and academic collaboration being undertaken.

According to him, the participation of foreign students not only has an impact on a more dynamic academic atmosphere, but also provides strategic added value for improving the quality and accreditation of study programs.

“Unpatti’s Physics Study Program has now achieved superior accreditation. The presence of international students will further strengthen our academic position, both at national and global levels,” he stressed.

Head of the Physics Department, Faculty of Science and Technology Unpatti, Ronaldo Talapessy, added that the acceptance of foreign students with a stay of more than four months was the first time this had happened in the Unpatti Physics Department.

“This is an important milestone for the Physics Department. The presence of international students provides significant benefits, especially for the Instrumentation and Automation Engineering Study Program which was only opened last year and is now entering its first cohort,” explained Ronaldo.

He assessed that cross-cultural and academic interaction would enrich the learning process while accelerating the strengthening of the new study program.

Meanwhile, Alix Fernandez admitted that he was impressed with the academic atmosphere at Pattimura University. He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to have direct dialogue with Unpatti professors, lecturers and academics.

“I feel very well received. Academic discussions here are open and warm. I hope that this academic collaboration and internship program can continue and develop sustainably,” said Alix.

The same thing was conveyed by Adrien Vitton Mea, who stated his commitment to pursuing research activities while at Unpatti.

“I want to focus on research and contribute optimally. The hope is that at the end of this internship program we can produce optimal and useful results,” he said.

The presence of these students from France confirms Pattimura University’s steps in expanding international networks, as well as strengthening the position of higher education in the eastern region of Indonesia as part of the global academic ecosystem. (**)
