Viralterkini.idTangsel – The High School Basketball Competition (SMA), High School Basketball Championship 2026 Road to Asia Pacific, officially started on Wednesday (13/5/2026). This prestigious event was held centrally at the MS Sport Arena BSD, South Tangerang, as a step to find Indonesian representatives to appear at the NBA Rising Stars Invitational in Singapore.
A total of 10 teams from eight schools took part in this tournament. Seven teams competed in the men’s category which was divided into two groups, while three other teams competed in the women’s category.
In the men’s category, Group A consists of SMA Mighty Olifant Yogyakarta, SMA Pangudi Luhur Jakarta, SMA Bina Tunas Bangsa Jakarta, and SMA PSKD Jakarta. Meanwhile, Group B is filled with Jubilee High School Jakarta, Cita Hati High School Surabaya, and Cambridge School Surabaya.
Meanwhile, in the women’s category, the competition was attended by SMA BPK Penabur Cirebon, SMA PSKD Jakarta, and SMA Jubilee Jakarta. Only the winner of each category has the right to secure a ticket to Singapore.
The Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) welcomed the holding of the tournament positively. The General Chairperson of South Tangerang City Perbasi, Hisyam Diah, assessed that this event could open up great opportunities for young Indonesian basketball players to experience the atmosphere of international competition.
“We are very grateful that in South Tangerang City, which is a tourist city, there are many championships at national to international levels,” said Hisyam.
He emphasized that the High School Basketball Championship is an important means of improving the quality of young Indonesian players through the experience of competing against foreign teams.
“We from Perbasi, South Tangerang City certainly have a lot of hope for the progress of basketball in Indonesia through this event. Personally, I and my friends at Perbasi have hope with this High School Basketball Championship,” he said.
“It can open up opportunities for our young people to experience international level competition. Because that is what today’s children really need.”
“Especially if we only talk about Indonesia, I think that to be able to have high abilities at the basketball level, you have to compete abroad,” he continued.
According to Hisyam, it is hoped that the presence of this competition can be a driving force for the progress of national basketball.
“So through this facility, this event, this is very good. And ultimately this is also for the progress of basketball in Indonesia,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chair of the 2026 High School Basketball Championship Organizing Committee, Murni Setionegoro, explained that all the participants who appeared were invited teams selected selectively based on their achievements and track records.
“Because those who compete in the High School Basketball Championship are selected selectively. Bearing in mind, the winners of this championship will compete against teams from the Asia Pacific in Singapore later,” said Murni.
On the opening day, the committee held four matches from morning to afternoon. Three matches took place in the men’s category and one match in the women’s category.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google.
