Halteng Mandiri Pangan: IMS Regent Collaborates with Bulog to Break Expensive Distribution Chains

​Viralterkini.id, ​JAKARTA – The Regent of Central Halmahera, Ikram M. Sangadji (IMS), has officially made a big breakthrough in maintaining regional economic stability. This strategic step began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Central Halmahera Regency Government and Bulog in Jakarta, Friday (6/2/2026).

​The signing carried out with the Deputy Main Director of Bulog, Marga Taufiq, is proof of IMS’ seriousness in strengthening food security. Through this collaboration, the Halteng Regency Government is committed to accelerating the program to ensure the availability of basic commodities for the people of Bumi Fagogoru.

​The Regent of IMS emphasized that Central Halmahera must have logistical independence to reduce the rate of inflation and prices of goods. So far, the long food distribution chain from outside the region has been the main trigger for high prices of basic necessities due to high sea transportation costs.

​”Controlling food prices can only be carried out effectively if a Bulog warehouse is available in the Central Halmahera region. With the construction of this warehouse, we will be greatly helped in cutting logistics costs which have been burdensome,” said the Regent of IMS.

​The physical presence of the Bulog warehouse in the area was a concrete solution offered by the Regent of IMS at the meeting. By having their own storage facilities, local governments can control food stocks directly without having to depend entirely on external supplies.

​Deputy Main Director of Bulog, Marga Taufiq, expressed high appreciation for the Halteng Regency Government’s commitment to strengthening local food security. According to him, this synergy is a proactive step that is really needed to maintain the stability of national food stocks at the regional level.

​”We ​​really welcome the initiative from the Regent of Halteng. Bulog is ready to provide full support in aspects of stock management and distribution to ensure that people have easy access to food at affordable prices,” said Marga Taufiq.
