Viralterkini.id, HALTENG – An atmosphere of emotion enveloped Sibenpopo Village, Central Halmahera, when the Governor of North Maluku, Sherly Tjoandamade a working visit on Wednesday (8/4/2026). This visit took place amidst a peaceful atmosphere after previously carrying out a peace procession between the conflicting parties on Tuesday, April 7 2026.
Accompanied by the Deputy Governor Sarbin LookNorth Maluku Regional Police Chief, Dandim 1512/Weda, North Maluku Koramil ranks, and Central Halmahera Police Chief, the presence of the Governor’s entourage was welcomed directly by the Regent of Central Halmahera, Ikram Malan Sangadji. Also present to accompany the Regent was the Deputy Regent Ahlan Djumadil and the Regional Secretary of Halteng Bahri Sudirman.
Haru’s Tears in the Middle of Peace
Even though the security situation has been declared conducive following yesterday’s peace declaration, Governor Sherly’s arrival was greeted with sobs of emotion by the residents of Sibenpopo.

Many residents, especially mothers, immediately hugged the Governor as he walked through the village.


The tears broke out not because of fear, but rather as a form of relief and gratitude from the residents for the direct attention from the highest leadership in North Maluku.
Governor Sherly was seen several times wiping the tears of residents and giving warm hugs as a form of moral strengthening for the people who had been affected by the clashes.
Caring for the April 7 Peace Results
On this occasion, Governor Sherly emphasized the importance of maintaining the peace commitment that had been mutually agreed on last Tuesday (7/4).


He asked the community to re-establish friendship and not allow provocation to destroy the brotherhood that has been re-established.
“Yesterday, April 7, a promise of peace was pledged. Today I come to embrace all ladies and gentlemen, ensuring that we all become one family again. Let’s guard this peace with an open heart,” said Sherly in front of the residents who had gathered with emotion.
Government and Security Commitment
Regent of Central Halmahera, Ikram Malan Sangadjiexpressed his highest appreciation for the visit of the Governor and the ranks of the North Maluku Forkopimda.


He emphasized that the Central Halmahera Regency Government will work hard to ensure that the social and economic stability of Sibenpopo residents is fully restored soon.
On the other hand, the presence of the North Maluku Regional Police Chief and Dandim 1512/Weda provides a guarantee that the security forces will continue to accompany residents to ensure that there are no more disturbances to social security and order in the area.
It is hoped that the synergy between the regional government and security forces will be able to make peace in Sibenpopo permanent.
This visit closed with open dialogue and the delivery of aid, which further strengthened relations between the community and provincial and district government levels. (Dano)
