Viralterkini.idSemarang – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is examining the former Minister of Transportation for the 2019–2024 period, Budi Karya Sumadi, as a witness in the investigation into alleged criminal acts of corruption at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.
The inspection was carried out at the office of the Central Java Representative Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). The location for the examination was chosen because the alleged DJKA corruption case had its initial locus in the Central Java region.
Budi Karya’s attorney, Tri Hartanto, confirmed that his client was present to fulfill the summons of KPK investigators. According to him, this presence is a form of compliance with the ongoing legal process.
“Our client came according to the schedule set by investigators. We fulfilled the invitation,” said Tri.
The alleged corruption case at the Directorate General of Railways is one of the cases currently being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission. The witness examination was carried out in the Central Java region because it was related to the initial location of the case.
At the same time, the KPK also examined other witnesses to speed up the process of gathering information in the investigation.
KPK spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, explained that Budi Karya’s examination was carried out in Semarang at the same time as other witnesses.
“Yes, the BKS witness was questioned in Semarang. This is a reschedule, where investigators also examined another witness, namely Brother AN from PT IPA,” said Budi.
In this case, the KPK has named PT IPA as a corporate suspect. This determination is part of the development of investigations into the alleged corruption case at DJKA.
According to the Corruption Eradication Commission, it is hoped that examining a number of witnesses at the same location will make the investigation process more effective. Investigators can gather information from various parties in a more coordinated manner.
“The essence is information from the person concerned so that it can help the investigation process in this case,” said Budi.
Until now, KPK investigators are still collecting information from a number of related parties to strengthen evidence in cases of alleged corruption within the Ministry of Transportation’s DJKA. (bn)
