Unfailing Support from Indonesian Citizens in Japan, Indonesian Amputee Football Team Defeats to Spain at ICC 2026

Viralterkini.id, Japan – Continuous support throughout the match from Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Japan to the Indonesian Amputee National Football Team has not been able to prevent the Red and White team from defeat.

The Indonesian Amputee Football National Team had to recognize Spain’s superiority with a score of 0–4 in the 2026 Amputee Football International Challenge Cup (ICC) match which was held at the Komazawa Olympic Park General Sports Ground, Sunday (18/1/2026).

Since the first whistle sounded, the Indonesian supporters who were present directly at the stadium continued to encourage the players. However, Spain’s superior tactics and experience made it difficult for Indonesia to develop their game until the match ended with a landslide score.

The Coordinator of the Socio-Cultural Information Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Muhammad Al Aula, who was present to watch the match, took the time to visit the team dressing room after the match to provide moral support to the players and officials.

“The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo appreciates the hard work that has been shown by the Indonesian Amputee Football Team. The enthusiastic support of Indonesian Indonesian supporters in Japan who were present directly in the stands also shows respect for the struggle shown by the players on the field. Even though the results have not been favorable, all the hard efforts from the players and officials are proof that all parties have shown maximum effort. Hopefully next time we can get better results,” said Muhammad Al Aula.

Head Coach of the Indonesian Amputee Football Team, Syahrul Ase, acknowledged the opponent’s superiority, especially in terms of tactics and strategy. According to him, the ICC 2026 event will be a valuable experience for future team evaluation.

“The stamina of the players in the future must be further improved. During these three days of matches we gained experience and this will be our evaluation going forward, especially for preparations domestically and in participating in international events in the future. We learned a lot about the tactics and strategies of the three opposing teams, starting from how to attack and defend, to making quick decisions on the field. Thank you for the support from Indonesian citizens in Japan and the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo,” said Syahrul.

The same thing was conveyed by the national team defender, Aziz Firmansyah. The player from Sumedang admitted that he had learned a lot from the three matches that Indonesia played at ICC 2026.

“We have been struggling and the results were not what we wanted. Honestly, we learned a lot during the three days facing Japan, Poland and Spain. In the future we will be more optimal. Hopefully the National Team can develop further and be able to participate in various other international events,” said Aziz.

ICC 2026 itself will be held on 16–18 January 2026 and will be attended by four countries, namely Indonesia, Japan, Poland and Spain. Indonesia opened the tournament with a 0–3 defeat to hosts Japan. On the second day, Indonesia suffered another defeat against Poland with a score of 2–9.

Meanwhile, Spain lost to Poland with a score of 1-3 on the first day. Japan also had to admit Spain’s superiority with a score of 1-3, before suffering another defeat on the final day when they faced Poland with a score of 0-3. (ary)
