The PWI Unity Congress was immediately carried out, SC and Congress participants had been agreed upon – Indonesia’s latest viral

JAKARTA-Chairperson of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of the Bandung Congress, Hendry Ch Bangun, and PWI Chairperson of the KLB results, Zulmansyah Sepedang, finally agreed on the two most crucial questions ahead of the PWI Unity Congress, 29-30 August 2025.

The two crucial questions are, first, the problem of replacing members of the Steering Committee (SC), Wina Armada Sukardi, who died, and Atal Depari who resigned. Second, participants of the Unity Congress.

The agreement was reached on Saturday (2/8/2025). This is the result of a series of negotiations mediated by Dahlan Dahi, a member of the Press Council. With this agreement, the SC and Organizing Committee (OC) of the Unity Congress can smoothly prepare and organize the congress.

“Alhamdulillah. SC is complete and the participants of the PWI Congress have been agreed upon all of them follow the PDPRT PWI rules. Hopefully all the draft rules that will be prepared will also refer to the PDPRT and whatever the results of the PWI Congress of the unity may not have one party to make a legal lawsuit,” said Zulmansyah.

“At present the issue of SC’s replacement has been completed and the participant’s question has been completed in principle for 39 provinces and special Solo branches, only technical problems that need to be tidied up. Thus on Tuesday (5/8/2025) all participants can be officially invited by the Congress Committee,” Hendry said.

Both parties agreed, Angry Sakti Siregar and a piece of Harahap wood will replace Wina Armada and Atal Depari. Angry Sakti and Diapari Sibatangkayu will join five other SC members.

SC, among others, is tasked with setting the conditions for PWI Chairperson. So far there have been seven candidates who are said to be candidates for the general chairman.

Thus, SC has been able to invite 38 provincial PWI management and Surakarta Special Branch.

SC also invites prospective PWI Chairperson to prepare themselves, including preparing the documents and requirements needed.

SC and OC have decided that the Unity Congress will be held in Cikarang, West Java. The congress lasted two days, August 29 to August 30, 2025.

On the first day, the Congress agenda was the consolidation of the organization, preparing everything so that the Congress could run smoothly.

The second day, the main agenda of the congress was the election of the general chairman and chairman of the PWI Honorary Council. The unity congress is expected to end the turmoil in the body of the oldest journalist organization in Indonesia
