Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – The world of Indonesian football is again tarnished due to the actions of supporters. The Kediri Persik Team bus was stoned by the Arema FC supporter group after the League 1 match which took place at the Kanjempuan Stadium, Malang, Saturday (11/5/2025).

This incident reaped strong criticism from various parties, including Major Arh Dr. Djoko Purwoko, former Chairman of the 1973 Persikabo Persikabo Implementation Committee (Panpel).

Djoko considered the violence as a serious violation of national and international soccer regulations.

He urged the PSSI Disciplinary Committee (Komdis) to impose strict sanctions on Arema FC and match panpel which was considered negligent.

In addition, he also encouraged the police to temporarily revoke the match permit held by Arema FC.

PSSI Disciplinary Code Violation

In his statement, Djoko referred to the PSSI Disciplinary Code Article 68 to 70 which stated that the club and Panpel were fully responsible for the security of the match, including supporters’ actions inside and outside the stadium.

He emphasized that the stone throwing incident against the visitors was classified as serious violations with the following sanctions:

• Minimum fine of Rp100 million;
• Prohibition of playing in a particular stadium;
• Match without spectators;
• Reduction of points to disqualification from the competition.

“This is not just an ordinary incident. This is a form of negligence that endangers life. The club and Panpel must be fully responsible,” said Djoko.

He also mentioned that in FIFA regulations, clubs that failed to maintain security could be subject to loud sanctions.

He cited the incident between Egypt vs Algeria (2009) and River Plate vs. Boca Juniors (2018) which led to the cancellation of the match to the delay of the schedule.

Pressure to the East Java Regional Police and Malang Police

Djoko called for the police, especially in the East Java Regional Police and Malang Police Satintelkam, no longer gave permission to hold a match for Arema FC until a comprehensive evaluation of the security system was carried out.

“I suggest that the Arema FC match permit be frozen until there is a comprehensive security system reform. If left unchecked, this can be repeated and endangering many parties,” he said.

He also asked the police to thoroughly investigate the perpetrators of the throwing and ensure that the legal process went transparent and fair.

Old wounds have not healed: Kanjuruhan tragedy

According to Djoko, this incident showed that some of the Aremania unscrupulous people had not learned from the Kanjempuan tragedy that killed 135 people on October 1, 2022.

He considered that the tragedy should be a turning point in the total improvement in the security system and culture of Indonesian soccer supporters.

“The Kanjuruhan tragedy is a dark event that should not be forgotten. However, this incident proves that the improvement of supporters’ culture has not been completed,” he said.

He stressed the importance of education and transformation of the mentality of supporters so that football can be a place of sportsmanship, not violence.

Exclamation of strict sanctions and reforms

Djoko hopes that the PSSI Komdis will act quickly by imposing severe sanctions on Arema FC and the match panpel.

According to him, a firm attitude will be an example that violence does not get a place in the world of sports.

“I called for the PSSI Komdis not to hesitate to impose severe sanctions. If there was no firmness, violence would continue to be repeated and tarnished the face of national football,” he said.

He added that football must be guarded from destructive elements. The club, federation, authorities, and the community must unite in building a safe and dignified atmosphere.

The related party response is awaited

Until this news was published, the management of Arema FC had not yet given an official response to the incident.

Similarly, the PSSI Komdis is still waiting for a complete report from the match supervisor.

Meanwhile, the East Java Regional Police has stated that it will investigate this case and take firm action against the perpetrators according to applicable law.
