Mariyati Grateful for Winning SEA Games Gold and Ummah of Her Parents

Viralterkini.id, Jakarta — Indonesian dragon boat rowing athlete, Mariyati, expressed deep gratitude after winning a gold medal with the national team at the 33rd SEA Games Thailand 2025, while also revealing her plans to use the government bonus to perform the Hajj and send her parents to the Holy Land.

The athlete from Banyuasin, South Sumatra, was an important part of the national dragon boat rowing team which ensured that Indonesia emerged as the overall champion in this sport.

This proud achievement was achieved after the Indonesian dragon boat rowing team collected a total of two gold medals and two silver medals.

This result also continues Indonesia’s tradition of domination in dragon boat rowing at international events, especially in the Southeast Asia region.

“Indonesia won two golds and two silvers in dragon boat. Indonesia’s tradition is that when competing in dragon boat rowing, it continues to be the overall champion at the international level. Therefore, our hope and target in the future is to maintain the overall champion,” said Mariyati in Jakarta in a release received Monday (19/1/2026).

The woman, who also holds a master’s degree in education, said that the team’s success was inseparable from hard work, teamwork and high discipline during the preparation period.

He considered that the achievements at the 2025 SEA Games were proof of the consistency of Indonesian rowing athletes in maintaining achievements at regional level.

Mariyati’s sense of happiness increased even more after receiving a bonus from the government as a form of appreciation for the athletes’ achievements.

The bonus was handed over symbolically by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to the 2025 SEA Games medal winners.

As an athlete who won the gold medal in the dragon boat rowing team event, Mariyati received a cash bonus worth IDR 500 million.

He admitted that he was very grateful and touched by the great attention given by the government to outstanding athletes.

“I’m very happy and happy. This is a form of extraordinary attention from the government to athletes,” said Mariyati.

Furthermore, Mariyati revealed that the bonus would be used for religious purposes. He plans to register to perform the Hajj pilgrimage and send his parents to the Holy Land to perform the Umrah pilgrimage.

“First, I want to register for the Hajj. After that, I want to send my parents for the Umrah,” explained the athlete who won gold in the 200 meters 22 crew mix rowing dragon boat and silver in the 200 meters 12 crew women.

According to Mariyati, the achievements achieved are not only a matter of personal pride, but also for her family and community in her hometown.

He hopes that his success can be a motivation for the younger generation, especially in South Sumatra, to take up rowing seriously.

On this occasion, Mariyati also expressed her appreciation and thanks to President Prabowo Subianto and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir.

He considers the government’s attention to athletes to be an important factor in maintaining enthusiasm and motivation to continue to excel.

Not only the President, Mariyati also expressed her appreciation to Menpora Erick Thohir for his concern for the welfare of national athletes.

According to him, government support is a big encouragement for athletes to focus on training and competing without having to be burdened by problems outside the arena.

“And to the Minister of Youth and Sports, continued success. We are proud to have a Menpora who cares so much about his athletes,” concluded Mariyati.
