Kuwait Beat Lebanon 4-2 in the 2026 Futsal Asian Cup

Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – The Kuwait National Futsal Team closed the 18th match series of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026 with a convincing victory.

Competing at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Saturday (31/1), Kuwait beat Lebanon with a score of 4-2 in a match marked by two own goals from the opposing side.

The match, which started at 15.00 WIB, took place in Jakarta’s fairly warm weather conditions, with temperatures reaching 29 degrees Celsius.

From the first minute, both teams immediately appeared disciplined and careful, realizing the importance of the match in the group phase competition of the most prestigious futsal tournament in Asia.

Kuwait, who appeared in blue uniforms, tried to take the initiative to attack first. Meanwhile, Lebanon, wearing red uniforms, chose to play closely and rely on quick counterattacks.

The duel was tight at a medium tempo, but there were minimal clear opportunities in the first 10 minutes. The deadlock was finally broken in the 16th minute, when Kuwait took the lead through an own goal from a Lebanese player.

Kuwait’s continued pressure made the Lebanese defense lose concentration, so mistakes in their own area led to the opening goal. The 1-0 score lasted until the first half ended.

Entering the second half, Kuwait again received a similar advantage. In the 22nd minute, Lebanon scored another own goal which put Kuwait ahead 2-0.

This goal further increased the confidence of the Kuwait players, who then appeared more aggressive in building attacks.

This momentum was utilized well by Abdullah Thamer Alenezi. The Kuwaiti player got his name on the scoreboard in the 29th minute, after taking advantage of a lax Lebanese defense. This goal took Kuwait away with a 3-0 lead and made their position even safer.

Behind three goals, Lebanon tried to get out of the pressure. Substitutions were made to increase the intensity of the attack.

These efforts bore fruit in the 32nd minute, when Hadi Cheaito managed to reduce the deficit to 3-1 with a calm finish.

Lebanon is increasingly confident and continues to put pressure on Kuwait’s defense. Hope for an equalizer was opened when Abed Al Rahman Sous scored Lebanon’s second goal in the 37th minute. This goal made the score change to 3-2 and heated up the tension of the match again in the final minutes.

However, Kuwait was able to maintain calm and discipline in the game. Even though Lebanon tried to force a power play to chase an equalizing goal, Kuwait managed to control the game until the final whistle sounded.

Kuwait’s fourth goal at the end of the match ensured a 4-2 victory and secured three important points.

This match was chaired by Sattorov Sukhrob from Tajikistan.

The match took place with high tension, which was reflected in the many warning cards issued by the referee. From the Lebanese side, warnings were given to Mohsen Mohsen (7′), Ali Al Hadi Jammoul (9′), and Hassan Maatouk (11′).

Meanwhile, from the Kuwait team, yellow cards were received by Abd Al-Aziz Borashed (8′), Mohammad Alajmi (19′), and Saleh Alfadhel (39′).

This victory is a positive result for Kuwait in their journey to the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup, as well as showing the effectiveness of their game in exploiting pressure on opponents.

On the other hand, Lebanon must immediately carry out an evaluation, especially in the aspect of concentration and defense organization which was in the spotlight due to two own goals.
