Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya secured 351 people during the demonstration around the Indonesian Parliament Building, Jakarta, yesterday. Of these, 196 people are minors. The police emphasized that people who expressed their opinions were still served and well secured. But there are other groups that use the situation to cause disruption of Kamtibmas.
“The commitment of the Metro Jaya Police Chief is clear, every community who wants to express opinions will be served and secure. But there are other parties outside the masses of opinions that actually do destruction and attack,” said Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Tuesday (8/26/2025).
The police said the anarchist group damaged the busway separator, the front fence of the DPR, pelted vehicles on the toll road, to attack officers. The Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief who led security in the field had carried out the appeal stages up to persuasive, but was not heeded so that the control was carried out.
Hundreds of people were secured, including 196 children suspected of coming because of invitations through social media. They come from Tangerang, Bekasi, Depok, Bogor, to Sukabumi. “We urge parents to supervise their children so as not to be easily provoked by invitations at social media. The demonstration is not a place for students,” said the Head of Public Relations.
In addition, the results of urine tests showed 7 positive adults of drugs – 6 related to methamphetamine and 1 related to benzoate. This case is now handled by the Directorate of Narcotics according to SOP.
Meanwhile, KPAI Commissioner Sylvana Maria appreciated the steps of the Metro Jaya Regional Police who handled children well after being secured. He said, from early morning his party had coordinated directly with the police to ensure the condition of the students.
“We are grateful to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for treating children well, providing food, drinking, resting places, and assistance according to the best principles of interest for children,” said Sylvana.
But Sylvana also regretted that there were still many students involved in the action, and some were even in middle school. “The number is quite large, there are 196 children. They are mostly participating because of the invitation of friends or social media, without understanding what really happened. This certainly robs their study time and their future,” he explained.
KPAI encourages the root of the problem of the child’s invitation pattern to mass action to be thoroughly investigated and asks all parties, ranging from parents, schools, to local governments, to be more active in protecting children from involvement in street political activities.
“We hope that children can channel aspirations in the right way, in the family, in schools, or official forums that are appropriate. They must learn to express their opinions positively and constructively, not join in a risky action,” concluded Sylvana. (ma)
