Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – Senior coach Rahmad Darmawan expressed his high appreciation for the implementation of the National Championship (National Championship) of the KONI 2025 rotating trophy.

He considered this tournament was a concrete step in strengthening the foundation of young soccer development in Indonesia.

In his statement, Rahmad mentioned the KONI 2025 Cup National Championship as one of the most awaited events by young footballers, especially those who have not yet had access to appear in formal competitions such as Elite Pro Academy (EPA).

“Thank you for the implementation of the KONI 2025 Cup Championship. This is an event that is awaited by many young players. So far we have been too focused on early age coaching in EPA, even though it is not enough to accommodate all the potential of SSB and clubs in remote areas of the country,” Rahmad said, Wednesday (5/14/2025).

EPA initiated by PSSI has been the main route in fostering young age 1 clubs.

But Rahmad considered that the system had not been able to accommodate the potential of the Football School (SSB) and small clubs scattered in various regions.

With the presence of the KONI Cup National Championship, he believes the opportunity is increasingly wide open for young players from various backgrounds to show abilities and get the attention of the national talent coach and guide.

“This tournament is very helpful for club coaches, especially those in EPA, to scouting. From here, they can find the best talents from various regions that may not have been monitored,” he added.

This championship competes with the age group U-10, U-12, U-14, to U-16, so according to Rahmad, coaching is carried out from an early age and can continue in a structured manner towards a higher level.

Rahmad also considered that the KONI Cup National Championship was an important means to provide experience in competing, enriching flight hours, as well as honing the mentality of young players before they stepped to a professional level.

“This tournament is not only a matter of talent search, but also learning. Children learn to play in a competitive atmosphere, recognize pressure, and shape character as a professional player from an early age,” said the former Sriwijaya FC and Madura United coach.

According to him, from tournaments like this it is not impossible to be born players who will become the mainstay of the Indonesian national team age group, such as U-16, U-17 to U-19.

He hopes that the existence of this National Championship can be used as an annual routine calendar that is fully supported by all national football stakeholders.

“I am optimistic that national players will be born from here. This is part of the long processing process. From this competition they learn, develop, and compete in a healthy manner,” Rahmad said.

He also expressed special appreciation to those who had been involved in the implementation of this National Championship, including the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI), and the Chairperson of the National Championship Organizer, Taufik Panji Alam.

“I thank Koni, Kemenpora, PSSI, Chair of the Committee Taufik Panji Alam, and the entire committee. This National Championship is a concrete form of joint commitment to build the future of Indonesian football,” Rahmad concluded.

The KONI 2025 Cup National Championship is considered to be a strategic step to expand the basis of early age development in an inclusive and evenly distributed throughout Indonesia.

By opening access to all regions, this tournament is not only a place to show off for young players, but also become an important container in building a strong soccer ecosystem from the bottom.

It is hoped that the championship will continue and receive full support from the government, federations, and professional clubs so that the coaching process runs more systematically and continuously.
