VIRALTERKINI.ID, JAKARTA-The hustle and bustle of the audience’s cheers, the screams of children who spurred the spirit of his team, until the boisterous applause who welcomed goals after goal, coloring the Garuda International Cup (GIC) V. The largest International Youth Football Tournament in Indonesia took place on 21-24 August 2025, to coincidence with the 80th year of Indonesian independence.
In the midst of the red and white spirit, there was Joyday, an ice cream brand from PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, who helped give a different color to this event. Not only through a crowded booth packed with visitors, but also through 5,000 ice cream which was distributed free of charge to participants and spectators. The smiles of children who just finished competing while enjoying ice cream, as if it was a small portrait of how happiness could be present in a simple form.
“Sports have a big role in shaping the character of children,” said Yu Miao, President Director of PT Yili Indonesia Dairy. “Discipline, sportsmanship, cooperation, and unyielding spirit-all can be learned through football. Our presence in GIC is not just present as an ice cream provider, but also a concrete manifestation of support for the dreams of Indonesian children.”
Soccer, children, and dreams brought to the field
Since it was first held in 2015, GIC has become a forum for thousands of talented children from home and abroad. This year, more than 160 matches were held involving teams from 10 countries. The age categories of U-10, U-12, U-15, until U-17 make this tournament the initial stage for young talents to feel the atmosphere of international competition.
This year, GIC also added FIFA standard venues, namely Asiop Stadium in Jakarta and Asiop Training Ground in Sentul. This facility increasingly reinforces the GIC position as a serious tournament in building early age football in Indonesia.
“Yili’s support really means to us,” said Wahyu Budiarto, Chair of the Garuda Cup V Committee. “This is the second time Yili supports GIC, after previously present in 2023. The presence of global brands such as Joyday made this tournament more lively and gave a strong message: the future of Indonesian football deserves to be fought for from an early age.”
From ice cream to positive energy
For many children, GIC is not just a matter of pursuing the ball on the field, but a valuable opportunity to build cross -cultural friendship, learn to face losses with grace, and celebrate victory with joy. Joyday’s presence adds to the emotional dimension: presenting excitement in a simple but striking way.
“Yili believes that Indonesian children have great potential, especially in football,” Yu Miao added. “We want to be part of their journey – not only on the field, but also in fostering self -confidence, health, and fighting power.”
Yili’s consistency in supporting the world of sports is not new. Previously, this Chinese company had become the Global Partner of AFC Asian Cup 2023 and supported the implementation of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup in Bali. In Indonesia alone, GIC is an important momentum for Joyday to get closer to the younger generation.
More than just a tournament
In the end, Garuda International Cup V not only presents the largest teen soccer competition in the country, but also reminds that sports are able to unite. In the stands of spectators, parents, coaches, and general audiences cheering together, without caring about the origin of the country or language. On the field, children play with enthusiasm, bring dreams that one day could have made them part of the national team, or even the world club.
