VIRALTERKINI.ID, JAKARTA – As part of a commitment to improve the quality of competition as a whole, I.League today officially held the Laws of the Game (LOTG) Championship 2025/26 in Jakarta.
This event became an important agenda in the pre-season calendar and was attended by representatives of managers and coaches from 20 championship clubs in the 2025/26 season.
Previously known as League 2, the second caste competition of Indonesian football has now officially transformed into a championship. This change is not just a change in name, but also reflects a new spirit in organizing competitions that are more professional, competitive, and in line with global standards.
One of the main milestone in this transformation is the introduction of the video Assistant Referee (VAR) which began to be applied for the first time in the Championship this season.
As an educational event as well as socialization of various changes and adjustments in the latest edition of Laws of the Game, the LOTG Championship becomes a strategic forum that brings together all important elements in the competition ecosystem – starting from the coach, club manager, to the technical team and official.
The event was opened by PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi. He conveyed the importance of synergy between federations, league operators, and clubs in building healthier and quality competitions.
“This event is an important step to equalize the understanding of all football actors to changes and adjustments to the rules of the game. PSSI appreciates the initiative I. League in ensuring that coaches, players, officials, and referees can start the season with a strong and uniform legal basis,” Yunus Nusi said.
Meanwhile, Sadikin Aksa, Director of Business & Commercial I.League, emphasized that the transformation of Championship not only occurred on the surface, but touched the fundamental aspects of the competition.
“Since changing its name to Championship, I.League has continued to transform to create more modern and professional competitions. The implementation of VAR this season is one of the tangible forms of our commitment to present the quality of matches that are more just, transparent, and international standard. The Lotg Championship is an important forum to ensure all clubs and officials understand the game update as a whole.”
The main material in this event was delivered by Yoshimi Ogawa (Deputy Chairperson of the PSSI Referees Committee) and Pratap Singh (Head of the PSSI Representative Department). Both explained the changes and adjustments in the Laws of the Game 2025/26, as well as the emphasis on the consistency of interpretation in the field.
One of the important points in this event is a special explanation of the implementation of VAR which began to be used in the Championship this season – a new history in the second caste competition of Indonesian football.
The event was also equipped with a technical preview of the 2025/26 Championship Competition delivered by Ronny Suhatril, GM Competition Operation I.League, including the structure of the competition and other supporting regulations.
Through this activity, I.League hopes that all elements in the Championship Ecosystem have a uniform understanding, for the creation of more professional, transparent and competitive competitions. (ma)
