The initial establishment of the Tesla Inc. company was initiated by Martin Eberhard (CEO) and Marc Tarpenning (CFO) in San Carlos, California in 2003. Initially this company was named Tesla Motors and only changed to Tesla Inc. in 2017.

The name Tesla itself, taken from a famous scientist thanks to the discovery of his electrical technology in the early 20th century, namely Nikola Tesla. While Elon Musk, the figure of Tesla’s CEO is now only entering Tesla in 2004 after investing $ 30 million and making it a chairman of the electric car company.

A year before the launch of the Roadster car, in early 2007 Martin Eberhard resigned as CEO, but he remained a member of Tesla Motors. He was first replaced by Michael Marks, a Tesla investor who served as a temporary CEO and Ze’ev Dori took over as a permanent substitute for Eberhard in November 2007.

While Tarpenning, who at that time served as Vice President of Electricity Engineering, and electronic and software systems also left the company in 2008. Only Elon Musk took over the company as CEO in 2008.

What do you think the electric car was produced by Tesla for the first time? Although it has been established since 2003 Tesla only officially released its first car at the end of 2007. At that time, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning wanted the concept of sports cars.

In 2006 they only released a prototype for a Tesla car named Tesla Roadster. Tesla Roadster is entirely made with an electric engine design. At the time of being tested, the car was able to travel a distance of 394 km with one charging. The distance was a record for electric cars at that time.

From further trials, Tesla Roadster is claimed to be able to produce performance comparable to many gasoline -powered sports cars. Where, Tesla Roadster can accelerate from 0 to 96 km per hour in less than 4 seconds.

Tesla’s first car launch
Ze’ev Dori is the figure behind the success of the launch of the Tesla Roadster production car in 2008. Dori changed the concept of Tesla Roadster from the prototype to a product that is worthy to be marketed to consumers.

Before officially launching, Tesla Roadster was used in the cover of Time magazines published in the US in December 2006. Tesla received the “Best Invention 2006 – Transportation Invention” award given by the magazine.
