Geely competes in Indonesia with local vehicle production in Purwakarta

VIRALTERKINI.ID, JAKARTA – Geely Auto Indonesia officially started the local production of vehicles in the assembly facility owned by PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM), Purwakarta, West Java, in the third quarter of 2025.

The production of the Knock-down (KD) system begins with the assembly of the EM-I Starray model since September, followed by Geely EX5 and Xingyuan in the near future.

“With KD production in Purwakarta, we can accelerate the distribution of high -quality electrification vehicles for the people of Indonesia. Production capacity of up to 60 units per day allows consumers to obtain vehicles with a shorter waiting time while getting global standard performance, comfort, and safety,” said CEO Geely Auto Indonesia Wu Chuxing, through a press release, Monday (29/9).

This local production is an important milestone for Geely’s expansion in the Indonesian market, as well as marks the long -term commitment of the Chinese company in supporting the national automotive ecosystem.

Geely applies the global manufacturing standards used in all of its production facilities, including the use of the GEA platform, a short blade battery, and the Safety System. The assembly system is also supported by Geely Manufacturing Enterprise System (GMES) to maintain consistency and product quality.

In addition, Geely admitted that he participated in conducting technical training and transfer of knowledge to local workers to ensure the application of technology runs optimally. The company also stated that this step supports transformation to low mobility emissions and bring public access to environmentally friendly vehicles.

Geely’s local production is expected to strengthen the domestic automotive supply chain while supporting the national decarbonization target through the provision of electrification technology vehicles.
