Viralterkini.idBanda Aceh – Garudayaksa FC showed a strong competitive mentality after holding Persiraja Banda Aceh to a draw with a score of 2-2 in the third round of the 2025/2026 Pegadaian Championship.
The match which took place at the H. Dimurthala Stadium, Lampineung, Sunday night was fierce until the final minute.
The visitors made sure to go home with an important point after scoring an equalizer in injury time. This result is proof of Garudayaksa’s fighting power, which did not give up even though it was under pressure from the host.
Garudayaksa FC coach, Widodo C Putro, admitted that the match was tight with high intensity from both teams.
“The match was very tight, both teams attacked each other. In football, when there is pressure, we have to be able to survive and get out of that pressure,” said Widodo in a press conference after the match.
He appreciated the struggle of his players who performed optimally until the final whistle. “I thank the players who fought from start to finish. This one point is very valuable for us,” he added.
Widodo also highlighted several aspects that his team needs to improve in the future, especially the transition from attack to defense and mistakes that led to the opponent’s goal.
“The transition from attack to defense must be improved. Apart from that, mistakes that lead to goals, especially from free kick situations, must be minimized. Players must also press more quickly so that opponents do not shoot freely,” he explained.
Regarding the referee’s leadership, Widodo assessed that the decisions taken were relatively balanced for both teams. He also explained that the additional time given was due to the many breaks in the match.
Meanwhile, Garudayaksa FC player, Andik Vermansyah, said the match was like a final match because it was very exciting and full of tension.
“This match is like a final, very exciting. We actually wanted to get three points to maintain our position at the top, but Persiraja performed very well, especially in defense,” said Andik.
He remains grateful for the draw he achieved at home to his opponent. Andik also received a warm welcome from Persiraja supporters, the club he once played for.
“I remain professional. Wherever I play, I will give my best. I want to score goals, not to hurt my former team, but to show my best performance,” he said.
Andik also expressed his respect and appreciation to the people of Aceh for the support given to him.
This draw means that Garudayaksa FC remains firmly in second place in the standings with a collection of 46 points, keeping its chances in the top competition. Meanwhile, Persiraja Banda Aceh is stuck in fifth position with 38 points. (ma)
