Dumai Unit II Refinery Oil Refinery Fire

Viralterkini.id, Riau – Pertamina Refinery Unit II Dumai (RU II Dumai) refinery which is a Pertamina Oil Refinery facility in Dumai, Riau Province, suffered a severe fire on Wednesday night, October 1, 2025.

This incident was in the spotlight and raised a big question about the security of refinery and oil and gas infrastructure in Indonesia.

The incident began the operator who was on duty in the area saw the fire appearing at the oil refinery at 20.00 WIB. Local residents also add to the sound of a strong boom and the fire began to enlarge. Officers try to extinguish the fire to reduce the risk of propagation.
However, the fire was getting bigger so that officers deployed a company fire truck.

According to the information we collected, at the location also alerted 8 units of Pertamina Dumai refinery trucks, 1 from Damkar City of Dumai, and 1 from Pertamina Patra Niaga Region Sumbagut.

Thus, the blackout was successfully carried out and finished at 22.51 local time, and the conditions were declared safe.

Recorded in the period 2023-2025 has experienced a similar incident twice. Previously experienced a similar incident in the form of an explosion precisely in April 2023.

The Dumai refinery is very strategic and plays an important role, because it contributes to supplying 16% of national energy needs, especially in the northern region of Sumatra (Sumbagut) and parts of Kalimantan. (ma)
