VIRALTERKINI.ID, JAKARTA – The Provincial Management (Pengprov) of DKI Jakarta Korfball held a Coaching Clinic activity and played together with the Dutch coach, Raymond Mollet, at The Sport Hub Forum, Bintaro, South Jakarta, Saturday (9/8/2025).
This activity was attended by athletes, trainers, and sports communities from various regions, with the aim of expanding the socialization of Korfball in Indonesia.
The Chairperson of the Jakarta Korfball Pengprov, Adi Dwiarmiono, explained that the arrival of Coach Raymond to Jakarta was part of the official agenda of the Asia Corchball International Federation (IKF) for Indonesia.
Raymond, who also served as Ambassador of IKF Asia to Indonesia, was present to provide training to trainers who were participating in the level 1 and 2 licensing programs.
“Alhamdulillah, six DKI Jakarta coaches already have the license. Therefore, we specifically invite Raymond coach to hold a coaching clinic for DKI Jakarta athletes and the general public,” Adi said.

According to him, this training has two main objectives. First, provide knowledge and techniques to play Korfball to DKI Jakarta athletes.
Second, introducing this sport to the public to be more popular and in demand.
In addition to the DKI Jakarta Korfball athletes and coaches, this activity was also attended by participants from the Indonesian Korfball Association (PKSI) South Tangerang, Bekasi Regency, and Bekasi City.
Interestingly, the Mother-Emak Basketball League (Libamak) community also took part in the coaching clinic session and the joint game.
Adi said the enthusiasm of the participants was very high. Many of them come from basketball that want to try Korfball.
“On average they recognize that the Korfball technique is not too difficult, but it is more draining than basketball,” Adi said.
DKI Jakarta Korfball Pengprov recently won the overall champion in the Aceh-Sumut National Sports Week (PON).
This achievement encouraged them to be more aggressive in socializing this sport. Adi hopes that activities such as coaching clinic can be held routinely as a fun korfball and basic technical introduction.
However, he also revealed the obstacles faced, one of which was the limitations of the special field of Korfball in DKI Jakarta.
“Hopefully in the future there will be a league or official Korfball tournament in Indonesia. In Porprov alone has not been contested, but we are optimistic that this year the National Championship can be held,” he said.
Coach Raymond Mollet claimed to be impressed with the potential of Indonesian athletes. According to him, in the next five to six years, Indonesia has the opportunity to become one of the top teams in Asia.
“The potential of athletes in Indonesia, especially in DKI Jakarta, is very good. Body posture is not an obstacle in Korfball, the most important thing is the intelligence of playing, agility, and ability to work together in the team,” said Raymond.
The coach who has long been involved in the international scene hopes that Korfball sports can be better known throughout Indonesia.
He also targets that the Indonesian national team and the DKI Jakarta team can take part in more international competitions and compete with the world’s top teams.
Korfball sports are still relatively new in Indonesia and are not as popular as other sports such as basketball or futsal.
However, a unique game format – involving male and female players in a team – is a special attraction.
DKI Jakarta Korfball Pengprov saw the momentum of the arrival of Coach Raymond as a golden opportunity to increase the popularity of Korfball.
With direct training from international experienced trainers, it is expected that basic techniques so that the game strategy can be mastered faster by local athletes.
This coaching clinic activity is also a place to share experiences between participants from various regions.
The exchange of ideas and techniques is expected to strengthen the network of the Korfball Community in Indonesia.
With the increasing interest of society and the formation of new communities, Korfball in Indonesia began to show positive developments.
Adi Dwiariono is optimistic, if there is support for facilities and sustainable competitions, this sport can develop rapidly.
“We want to form a sustainable korfball ecosystem, ranging from early age coaching, coach training, to routine competition. If this is realized, the target of competing at the Asian level is not impossible,” he said.
Coach Raymond also stressed that Indonesia has sufficient capital to penetrate international competition.
With the right construction strategy, he believes that Indonesia Corfball can be one of the new forces in Asia.
With the spirit of collaboration between coaches, athletes, and communities, DKI Jakarta Korfball hopes that the presence of Coach Raymond Mollet can be the starting point for the revival of this sport in the country. (ma)
