Viralterkini.id, Jakarta -Former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) for the period 2023-2025, Dito Ariotedjo, expressed his relief after the position he was officially replaced by Erick Thohir.
The handover of the position took place at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), Jakarta, Thursday (18/9/2025), witnessed by officials, former ministers, and ministry staff.
In his remarks, Dito stressed that Erick Thohir was the right figure to continue the leadership of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“I am relieved because finally my successor is a person in the world of sports no longer need to be questioned,” said Dito.
Dito also revealed, during his tenure, he learned a lot from Erick Thohir who was first known in the national and international sports arena. In fact, he called himself the “tulen education” Erick Thohir.
“So don’t be afraid, the styles are similar. But he might be more fierce because of the Lampung people, if I am a solo person,” he said with a smile.
In his leadership reflection, Dito gave appreciation to the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Taufik Hidayat, who accompanied him for the past 11 months.
He considered the former national badminton athlete as one of the best deputy ministers in the Cabinet ranks.
“Even though we sometimes disagree, all can be resolved by discussion. So Mr. Erick must be grateful to have a deputy minister who is perpendicular and very supportive,” said Dito.
Praise to Taufik became one of Dito’s emphasis in his farewell speech, given the role of the Deputy Minister who was considered strategic in maintaining synergy in the body of the ministry.
In addition, Dito highlighted important achievements during his term of office, one of which was successful in continuing the program to increase the performance allowance of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Employees by up to 70 percent.
He hoped that during the leadership of Erick Thohir, the allowance could be increased by 100 percent.
“If the resources in the Ministry of Youth and Sports are not strong, how can we make youth and sports more advanced,” he said.
According to Dito, the strengthening of human resources (HR) in the internal Kemenpora is the main focus.
This was done through continuous education and training programs, so that employees are able to carry out the vision of youth and sports development more effectively.
The handover ceremony was also attended by a number of former Menpora cross-periods, including Adhyaksa Dault (2004-2009), Andi Alfian Mallarangeng (2009-2012), Agung Laksono (2012-2013), Roy Suryo (2013-2014), and Zainudin Amali (2019-2023).
Their presence adds to the historical nuance in the momentum of the leadership change of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The former ministers are said to provide moral support for the sustainability of youth and sports programs that are the focus of the government.
Their presence also showed continuity in the development of this sector under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Dito stressed his belief that Erick Thohir would be able to bring the Ministry of Youth and Sports to a better direction.
According to him, Erick’s experience in managing sports organizations, including his work as Chairperson of PSSI, became a big capital to lead the ministry in charge of youth and sports affairs.
“I believe Mr. Erick can continue the existing struggle, even bring the Ministry of Youth and Sports to a higher level,” Dito said.
In addition, Dito hopes that Erick will continue to pay attention to the welfare of ministry employees and strengthen cooperation with various sports stakeholders, both at home and abroad.
During his leadership, Dito admitted that there was still a lot of homework that had to be completed, ranging from fostering athletes, development of sports infrastructure, to strengthening youth organizations.
However, he stressed that the foundation that has been placed can be a foothold for a better future.
“Many things that we have started, and I am sure that in the hands of Mr. Erick everything can develop faster,” he said.
Dito added that the journey to lead the Ministry of Youth and Sports is a valuable experience in his career, while providing important lessons about leadership, cooperation, and responsibility.
The handover of the position ended with the signing of the Minutes and friendly between the old officials, new officials, and invited guests.
The atmosphere took place warmly, with a great hope that the Indonesian youth and sports sector would continue to develop rapidly under the leadership of Erick Thohir.
Thus, the leadership baton of the Ministry of Youth and Sports officially moved from Dito Ariotedjo to Erick Thohir, who will serve for the 2025-2029 period.
The public is now looking forward to Erick’s strategic steps in advancing national sports while empowering the young generation of Indonesia.
