Viralterkini.id, Jakarta, – Putri Kusuma Wardani achieved success in two straight games by defeating Sung Shuo Yun (Chinese Taipei) with a score of 21-13, 21-14 in the first round of the Polytron Indonesia Open 2026.
Winning with a convincing score, Putri said that she could carry out the strategy that she had discussed with the coach.
“Thank God there were no injuries, overall, I am quite satisfied that I was able to win today’s match and was able to play my game,” said Putri.
“Today’s opponent did not underperform, his game was like that. The last time we met at the Indonesia Masters this year, there weren’t many changes, so I could say that I played with the technique I wanted and I had read the opponent’s weaknesses,” he added.
Advancing to the second round, Putri apparently had the desire to be able to beat the Canadian women’s singles player, Michelle Li. In the previous meeting at the 2026 Uber Cup, Putri lost to Li.
“There is one day’s rest, enough time for me to prepare myself against Michelle Li. The day after tomorrow I play at Istora against her, I want to show that I can beat her again,” said Putri.
The Indonesian women’s singles ranking sixth in the world admitted that she would go all out to avenge her defeat against Li.
“In our last meeting, the opponent controlled more of the forward half (of the field) and indeed he had a pretty good and quite hard overhead ball, so he really played fast. He was also good at organizing attacks and his speculation was good, this is what I have to be careful of,” explained Putri.
It is recorded that Putri has met Michelle Li three times. Meanwhile, Putri is ahead with a position of 2-1. Putri won the first two meetings at the 2025 Australian Open and 2026 India Open.
