Workers Demonstrate in Front of the North Sumatra Governor’s Office, Demanding a Wage Increase

Viralterkini.id, Medan – The demonstration in front of the North Sumatra Governor’s office was attended by various trade union alliances demanding an increase in the provincial minimum wage on Monday, November 3 2025.

‎Hundreds of workers took to the streets to speak out regarding workers’ welfare and wages. This action was closely monitored by the police to ensure that the demonstration continued in a conducive manner.

‎This action was held as a form of workers’ disappointment with wages which were considered too low for workers and the government only supported and made policies that benefited entrepreneurs. Said a worker in his speech.

“We are very disappointed, we have sent many letters supporting an increase in workers’ wages, but it cannot be resolved. We hope that the governor and members of the DPRD can support an increase in workers’ wages by 10%.” He said during his speech.

‎Apart from that, workers also highlighted the government which only supports conglomerates as entrepreneurs and ignores workers’ wages. Because many people in North Sumatra earn their livelihood from labor work. (bn)
