The National Women’s 3×3 Basketball Team Makes History by Winning a Gold Medal at the 2025 SEA Games

Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – The National Women’s 3×3 Basketball Team made history. For the first time since 3×3 basketball was competed in the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, Indonesia brought home a gold medal.

It is certain that Indonesia will collect a gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. Indonesia won the gold medal after being undefeated since the group stage.

The Women’s 3×3 National Team started their journey at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand from Group A on Wednesday (10/12), by beating the Philippines 21-15. They then maintained their dominance by beating Malaysia 19-10 in the second match.

Having successfully defeated their two rivals in Group A, the Women’s 3×3 National Team advanced to the semifinals with the status of group winners. In the semifinals, the team strengthened by Evelyn Fiyo, Kimberley Pierre-Louis, Agustin Gradita Retong, and Ayu Sriartha Kusuma Dewi faced Vietnam the following day.

In the match which took place at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok, Thursday (11/12), Vietnam was defeated with a score of 20-18. This victory took them to the final.

In the final, the Women’s 3×3 National Team coached by Fandi Andika Ramadhani faced hosts Thailand. In this top match, Thailand was defeated with a position of 20-18. Indonesia is champion!

The victory led the Women’s 3×3 National Team to make history. This is the first gold medal for the Women’s 3×3 National Team since 3×3 Basketball was competed in at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.

Before getting the gold medal, the medal collected by the Women’s 3×3 National Team was bronze. These medals were recorded respectively at the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi and the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.

“A new history of basketball. First time getting a gold medal since the women’s 3×3 was competed at the SEA Games,” explained Secretary General of DPP PERBASI Nirmala Dewi.

Indonesian 3×3 National Team Manager John Nawawi said he was proud to be part of Indonesian basketball history. Remembering that this is Indonesia’s first gold medal from 3×3 basketball since competing at the SEA Games in 2019 in the Philippines.

“This is the first gold in the history of the Indonesian Women’s 3×3, we must be very proud of the achievements of our athletes and coaching staff!” explained John.

John continued, this gold medal was not obtained easily. Everyone worked hard.

“Their struggle was not easy, but with experienced players in 3×3, 2 SEA Games in a row we always slipped up in the semifinals and won bronze, but this time we didn’t waste the opportunity in the final, they say “third time’s a charm,” said John.

John said, this gold medal is a special motivation for the development of Indonesian 3×3 basketball. With this achievement it is hoped that we can move to a higher level.

“This gold medal is a big hope for our 3×3 women’s team to continue to progress to greater and greater levels! First of many Gold for 3×3 Indonesia!!!,” he said. (ma)
