The Indonesian Navy faith the smuggling of illegal cigarettes and motorbikes – Viralterkini

Viralterkini.id, NTT – The Navy through the Labuan Bajo Navy Base (Lanal) succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of 80,000 illegal cigarettes without excise tape and 14 units of motorcycles without complete documents at the Pelindo Wae Multipurpose Port, Komodo District, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Tuesday (5/27).

In a press conference held at Mako Lanal Labuan Bajo, Wednesday (28/5), Lanal Labuan Bajo Commander, Lt. Col. (P) Ardian Widjanarko Djajasaputra, M.Tr.opsla, explained that the disclosure of this case began with reports of public regarding the alleged shipping of illegal goods through the KMI Mila Utama motorcycle to Labuan Bajo.

“Our personnel immediately followed up on the information and carried out a strict inspection of vehicles that descended from KM Niki Mila Utama. As a result, found 80 thousand cigarettes without excise brands in cardboard and 14 units of motorcycles without legal documents that were not listed in the list of ship loads,” Danlanal said.

Illegal items were found in an expedition truck suspected of carrying unofficial cargo. The truck driver and kernet were immediately secured and taken to Mako Lanal Labuan Bajo for further inspection.

For this shake, the Navy managed to save the potential loss of the state which was estimated at Rp 400 million. Evidence in the form of illegal cigarettes will be handed over to Labuan Bajo Customs, while motorized vehicles without documents are submitted to the police for further legal proceedings.

Danlanal Labuan Bajo emphasized that this success was a form of commitment of the Navy in maintaining sea security and supporting the priority program of the Navy Chief of Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali, especially in eradicating the smuggling and circulation of illegal goods in Indonesian waters.

“This is clear evidence of the hard work and synergy of the authorities in maintaining the country’s sovereignty, as well as ensuring the safety of the community from the circulation of illegal goods that harm the country,” he said. (ma)
