Rizki Juniansyah Carves Gold and a World Record for Indonesia at the 2025 SEA Games

Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – Indonesia’s mainstay lifter, Ltda TNI Rizki Juniansyah, made another brilliant achievement by presenting a gold medal and breaking the world record in the men’s 79 kilogram weightlifting event at the 2025 SEA Games, which took place in Chonburi, Thailand, Monday (15/12/2025).

Appearing in front of the public who filled the Chonburi Sports School, Chonburi, Rizki showed unrivaled strength from the start, doing a perfect snatch lifting weighing 160 kg.

The French 1024 Olympic gold winner was increasingly unable to be overtaken by his opponents when he successfully performed a fantastic clean & jerk lift weighing 205 kg.

This record led Rizki to break the Asian record and the world record for the men’s clean & jerk lift in the 79 kg class, which was previously recorded at 204 kg.

Rizki’s total weight of 365 kg was also a new record in Asia and the world for the men’s 79 kg class, surpassing the previous record of 364 kg.

With a proud smile, the man who officially assumed his duties as a TNI officer two weeks ago showed off a respectful celebration showing pride in his achievements for the country. Rizki also expressed his gratitude for the support and promise of bonuses given by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

“Thank God, yesterday we were released, and it was very nice to be welcomed by the President warmly and really touched the athletes’ hearts with his motivation and support, very ambitious, sir, and thank you for the bonus motivation. So this is a step forward for the athletes to be even more enthusiastic about training, I am very grateful, that’s why I celebrated earlier, which is typical of being a soldier,” said Rizki.

Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir assessed Rizki Juniansyah’s success in adding to Indonesia’s gold collection at the 2025 SEA Games and setting a world record as proof of the tenacity and spirit of patriotism of the nation’s ambassadors fighting for the country.

The 2024 Olympic gold did not make Rizki complacent, in fact he became even more enthusiastic about training and it was proven that Rizki showed a patriotic mentality to fight for the nation and was persistent against competitors.
