PSTI believes KONI’s appointment of technicians violates procedures, there are interests behind the premature decision

Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – The Indonesian Sepak Takraw Association (PSTI) visited the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Office on Monday (13/10/2025) to ask for an explanation regarding the appointment of carateker management which was considered unprocedural and caused commotion within the sports organization.

PSTI General Chair for the 2025–2029 period, Asnawi Rahman, said that this hearing was a follow-up to the official letter that had been sent to the Central KONI.

However, their arrival along with 24 provincial administrators was not welcomed well.

“Initially we came to the 11th floor of the KONI Building, but were asked to go down to the 10th floor. The atmosphere gave the impression that KONI did not want or not accept our presence,” said Asnawi after the meeting.

After negotiating, the PSTI group was finally accepted by the Head of the Central KONI Organizational Division, who provided an explanation regarding the appointment of PSTI staff.

However, according to Asnawi, the meeting did not provide satisfactory clarity.

“Personally, I am very dissatisfied with the results of this hearing. The explanation given was very unclear, and from the start the atmosphere was not good,” he stressed.

Asnawi also questioned the circulation of the decree (SK) on the formation of PSTI workers which had spread widely on social media, even though the provincial administrators had not received an official copy until now.

“The letter has been circulating everywhere, it is even said that there will be a National Conference on October 25. We have never received the letter, so where did the decree come from?” said Asnawi.

He added that the 24 provincial administrators who took part in the PSTI National Conference (Munas) in Sukabumi in December 2024 remained solid and agreed to request an official explanation from KONI.

“I came not as Ketum anymore, but because my friends from the provincial government asked me to bridge this audience,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of PSTI Riau, who was also present, regretted KONI’s attitude which was considered not transparent.

He assessed that the appointment of technicians without official notification had caused confusion in the regions.

“I was shocked, the Secretary General of KONI had just read the secretary general’s letter even though the letter had been circulating for 13 days. Why is it only being discussed now?” he said.

He also asked the General Chair of the Central KONI Marciano Norman and the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Erick Thohir to take firm action against individuals suspected of circulating the fake decree.

“We ask for the attention of the Chairman of KONI and the Minister of Youth and Sports. Don’t let irresponsible individuals make noise. PSTI is fine, but the actions of a few people can damage the organization,” he said.

On the other hand, the Secretary General of PSTI, Herman Anndi, assessed that KONI’s decision to issue the SK for employment was too hasty and did not comply with legal procedures.

According to Herman, KONI’s move to issue a carateker decree on October 3 2025 did not have a strong basis because the arbitration award was only registered with the District Court on October 7 2025.

“This means that the decision is premature. The arbitration award does not have executorial force before it is registered with the court,” he explained.

Herman assessed that KONI’s actions actually worsened the situation and had the potential to violate organizational rules.

He also asked for serious attention from various parties, including the Minister of Youth and Sports and President Prabowo Subianto, to save the sport sepak takraw from the political interests of certain groups.

“The sport of sepak takraw must be saved. Don’t be used as a puppet by a group of people who want to disrupt the sustainability of the organization,” he stressed.

He added that the presence of KONI representatives at the PSTI National Conference in Sukabumi was also a highlight.

At that time, Deputy General Chairperson I of KONI, General Suwarno, was present with official attributes and conveyed a message from the General Chairperson of KONI.

However, in this hearing, KONI’s organizational division stated that Suwarno’s presence at the National Conference was not as an official KONI envoy, but as a personal representative.

“This is very contradictory. He was present with official attributes and conveyed a message from the General Chair of KONI. But now he is said to have come in his personal name,” said Herman.

He hopes that the government will not turn a blind eye to the chaos occurring within PSTI. According to him, polemics like this have the potential to hamper athlete development and reduce the enthusiasm of coaches and regional administrators.

“We don’t want to be noisy. We want this organization to be calm, solid and focused on producing outstanding athletes at the national and international level. Please pay attention to us,” concluded Herman.
