Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – After six years of work as a pioneer of placemaking and creative areas in Indonesia, M Bloc Space officially launched its new face through the Grand Launching New Face of M Bloc Space event which was held today at M Bloc LiveHouse, Blok M, South Jakarta.
Bringing back the theme “Everyone Returns to Blok M”—which was first used at the opening of M Bloc Space on 26 September 2019—this theme reaffirms M Bloc’s commitment to revitalizing the spirit of the Blok M area as a center for activities, creativity and popular culture for the younger generation, especially Gen Z.
Physical Transformation and New Face of M Bloc Space
Since early 2025, M Bloc Space has undergone a series of major renovation and beautification processes that mark a new step in its evolution as a leading urban creative destination in Jakarta. This transformation includes:
● Complete overhaul of the main lobby area to make it more spacious, modern, functional and friendly for visitors, including people with disabilities.
● Construction of a new prayer room and public toilet in the back area.
● Roof renovations to the existing row of shophouses and tenants, providing a fresher and more visually integrated appearance.
● Revitalization of the roof, floors and buildings of the M Bloc Live House and Creative Hall (Melting Pop), improving the acoustic quality, lighting and comfort for concerts and various community events.
● Installation of pedestrian canopies on the south and north sides to Wandelgang in the rear area which strengthens the experience of a shady, safe and inclusive public space.
“M Bloc Space was born from the great vision of the late Bung Glenn Fredly and the other co-founders who wanted to create a collaborative space for music, local brands and creative communities. With PERURI’s full support, this area has grown into a real symbol of how creativity can be an economic force as well as a social force that revives a city. In my role at M Bloc, our focus is not to change direction, but rather to continue, strengthen and ensure the sustainability of this movement, so that its positive impact can be felt by more people and passed on to more people.
next generation. Continuing the Movement, Not Changing the Direction,” said Ahmad Romero Comacho, CEO of M Bloc Space
PERURI Support: Synergy of BUMN and Creative Industries
As the landlord of the M Bloc Space area for the last six years, PERURI has played a very important role in encouraging the sustainability of this area as an example of strategic collaboration between BUMN and the private sector through the creative industry sector.
“We at PERURI are proud to see how PERURI assets that were previously idle/unproductive have now become a living space for the creativity and innovation of young Indonesians. We will continue to support M Bloc Space’s steps in strengthening Blok M as a world-class creative ecosystem,” said Dwina Septiani Wijaya, President Director of PERURI.

M Bloc Design Week 2025: “The Fine Cycle” – Celebrating the Sustainable Design Cycle
As part of the series of launches of the new face of M Bloc Space, M Bloc Design Week (MBDW) 2025 is back in its fourth edition with support from the Ministry of Creative Economy/Indonesian Creative Economy Agency, Parongpong Recycle and Waste Lab and VIDA. This annual design festival is an important agenda for design activists, which will be held from 31 October to 9 November 2025, centered at M Bloc Space, South Jakarta.

The spirit of MBDW 2025 does not stop in Jakarta, but also spreads to various cities in Indonesia such as Medan, Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Surabaya and Bali. This simultaneous implementation is a collective effort by design actors to share ideas, expand networks, and strengthen the sustainable design ecosystem in Indonesia.
With the theme “Recycling”, MBDW 2025 highlights the importance of sustainable design practices, innovation based on recycled materials, as well as cross-disciplinary collaboration between architects, designers, craftsmen, academics and industrial players. Through a participatory and inclusive approach, MBDW 2025 presents work exhibitions, conferences, workshops and interactive talk shows that open up open spaces for sharing ideas and fostering new collaboration opportunities.
“Through the theme of Fine Cycles, we want to invite designers and creative actors to look again at the relationship between form, function and sustainability. Design is not only about aesthetics, but also about the life cycle of objects and their impact on the earth. MBDW 2025 is an invitation to be creative with full awareness of environmental responsibility,” said Jacob Gatot Sura, Initiator of M Bloc Design Week, Co-founder of M Bloc Space.
BCA also supports the M Bloc Design Week 2025 initiative by presenting the “myBCA Experience” which is located in the main lobby area. In this area, visitors can obtain various information about BCA products and services, activate myBCA for new users, open an e-Deposito account, and buy and top up a Flazz card. Apart from that, visitors can also enjoy other BCA digital services, starting from activating the Forex Poket, Paylater, myBCA Keyboard, and the QRIS NFC Pay feature for Android users. Not only focusing on financial services, myBCA Experience also presents various interesting activities such as playing gacha with prizes through the BCA Prize Festival menu, capturing moments in the photobooth, as well as the opportunity to get exclusive merchandise from BCA.
Rebranding Creative Hall to “Melting Pop”
One of the most interesting updates in New M Bloc Space is the rebranding of the Creative Hall area, the result of collaboration between M Bloc Space and Infipop, which is a digital media and creative ecosystem for young people.
This multifunctional space now has a new name: Melting Pop, a dynamic space for communities and brands to network and create through various events such as exhibitions, talks, visual arts, film screenings, and cross-sector collaborative activities.
More than just a space, Melting Pop is a symbol of inclusivity and collaboration between communities; a place where diverse urban cultural expressions and creative ideas merge into one new energy.
“Melting Pop itself is one of Infipop’s missions to provide space for all forms of popular cultural expression, from music, design, fashion, to film, to mingle and collaborate. We want to create a place that is lively, relevant, and reflects the spirit of today’s generation,” concluded Irfan “Fanbul” Prabowo, CEO of Infipop (rby)
