Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – The Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) emphasized that all Indonesian table tennis athletes can still participate in various international championships, both single events and multievent, although the Indonesian Table Tennis Association Organization (PP PTMSI) has been officially revoked from the membership of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
The decision was made at the ITTF Annual General Meeting (GMS) held in Doha, Qatar on May 27, 2025.
In the forum, ITTF approved the recognition of the Indonesia Pingpong League (IPL) as an official member representing Indonesia. This recognition has been published through the official ITTF website,
This ITTF decision was taken according to the mechanism stipulated in the ITTF statute and was approved by more than two thirds of the National Table Tennis Federation (NTTF).
ITTF together with the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) also agreed to support the view of NOC Indonesia that Indonesian table tennis requires a new start after years of being trapped in internal conflicts.
One of the follow -up of this decision was the formation of a transition committee to oversee the process of reorganizing national table tennis until the implementation of new management selection under the IPL.
ITTF explicitly asked NOC Indonesia to become the party who leads the process.
“After the follow -up with ITTF regarding the issuance of PTMSI, we are trusted to help the formation of a new body that will overshadow table tennis in Indonesia,” said President NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, in a written statement, Tuesday (8/7/2025).
According to Okto, the transition committee was formed by involving national sports figures across branches.
Anindya Bakrie (Chairperson of the Indonesian Aquatic) was appointed as chairman, accompanied by Ita Yuliati (Chairperson of the Indonesian Gymnastik Federation) as Deputy Chairperson.
In addition, there are also representatives from NOC Indonesia namely Harry Citizen and Secretary General Wijaya Noeradi, and Ferry Kono from Inaspro.
Okto emphasized that the entire NOC Indonesia decision process had been carried out according to applicable regulations, including coordination with the International Federation (IF) and the results were passed through a member meeting.
He said the chaotic condition of national table tennis had been going on for too long.
“Imagine, said ITTF the problem of table tennis in Indonesia has not been completed for 20 years. We convey that we will solve the best way. Thank God, thanks to the cooperation of national sports stakeholders including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we will have a new body from the Table Tennis Sports Branch,” he said.
Regarding the participation of athletes, coaches, and referees in various international tournaments, Okto guarantees that there will be no obstacles.
“Nothing can threaten athletes by saying they should not compete. All athletes, coaches, and referees are guaranteed to follow all activities as long as according to the terms and conditions imposed by IF,” Okto said.
The same thing was conveyed by Harry Citargaran who explained that the Transition Committee had three main mandates given directly by ITTF.
First, managing table tennis activities in Indonesia, including registering athletes and officials to international tournaments.
Second, hold an international event in Indonesia if there is. Third, regulating and overseeing the process of selecting the IPL leadership.
“The Transition Committee is fully responsible in ensuring all processes run according to the principles of organizational governance and applicable international federation rules,” Harry explained.
ITTF through Secretary General Raul Calin expressed full support for the steps of NOC Indonesia.
In his official letter, Raul said ITTF was ready to facilitate the transition process of Indonesian table tennis organizations for the success of long -term restructuring.
“We agree with the Indonesian NOC analysis that the Indonesian table tennis management dispute has been going on for too long and has not been resolved. We fully support the position of NOC Indonesia regarding the need to start a new page,” Raul wrote in his letter.
With the formation of the Transition and Official Recognition Committee on IPL, NOC Indonesia ensures that the future of national table tennis will be re -organized, by upholding transparency, accountability, and guarantees of the right to compete for all athletes at the international level.
