Asian Fencing Championships 2025, Momentum of the Awakening of Indonesia’s Fencing in the World Area – Viralterkini

Viralterkini.id, Jakarta – Asian fencing championship 2025 (Asian Fencing Championships 2025) which will be held at The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali, on 17-23 June 2025, referred to as the momentum of the revival of Indonesian fencing sports achievements.

The Indonesian National Team Coach, Muhammad Indra Haryana, said this championship was not just a competition, but also as an important stepping stone for long -term regeneration and achievement, including qualifications to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympiad.

“More than two decades of Indonesia have not hosted the International Fencing event. This is the awakening of the national fencing world. Thank you to the Chairperson of PB Ikikasi, Mr. Amir Yanto, who has sought the presence of this prestigious championship,” Indra said in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/28/2025).

This championship is also part of a series of points collection to the Olympics. Although not promising the medal target, Indra stressed that athletes will perform optimally and use this event as a valuable experience.

“We do not promise instant achievements, but we promise the best performance. This is a moment of young athletes to hone our skills and compete at the Asian level. This is also the first step towards the Thailand 2025 SEA Games and so on,” he said.

Indonesia has a brilliant track record in fencing. At the SEA Games Jakarta 1997, Indonesia emerged as the overall champion by winning 11 of the 12 gold medals contested.

At the Asian level, Silvia Kuswandi presented a silver medal at the 1990 Asian Games, while Diah Permatasari became the last Indonesian fencing athlete to appear at the Olympics, namely in London 2012.

“All of these achievements did not occur instantly. It takes a long process and sustainable coaching. Now we have potential junior athletes who have made achievements at the Seaff Fencing Championship. We are optimistic that they can compete at the Thai SEA Games next year,” continued Indra.

Facing the Asian Championship, the Executive Board of the Indonesian Fencing Association (PB Ikikasi) has held the National Training Center (Pelatnas) Mandiri since February 1, 2025 in Ceger, East Jakarta.

Of the 52 athletes participating in Pelatnas, PB Ikikasi has netted 25 of the best athletes to strengthen the national team.

“Their development is very positive. Currently the focus of training is to improve the technique and consistency of the game,” said Indra.

The Indonesian national team will be strengthened by 25 athletes from various numbers, under the direction of the experienced coach team led by Lucky Ramdhani and Grandson Sundara as head coach. The following is a complete list of team members:
